The Training Process

Stayyy’s training process is focused around removing troublesome behavior while reinforcing positive habits. We start by making sure your dog knows all of their basic commands, then we drill them until your dog follows them every time. Even if your dog knows the basics, we’ll still work with them to make sure they are obedient.
We also focus on:
· Exercise
· Breaking bad habits
· Socialization
· Mental stimulation
We approach certain behaviors your dog should not be engaging in head-on. Some of the bad habits we address at Stayyy include:
· Excessive barking
· Rushing in or out the door
· Leash pulling
· Stealing food from other animals
· Jumping up on people
· Charging at other animals
· Eating off the counter
It’s extremely important for your pup to be properly socialized. Because of this, socialization is one of the key components of our dog training. We work to make sure your pup is safe around other dogs. To do this, we provide them with lots of opportunities to learn about being pack members and how to properly play with others.

DAY CAMP

If you are looking to teach your dog the fundamentals of obedience and the basic commands, the Stayyy Day Camp is the perfect solution. During our immersive day camp, your dog will receive excellent training provided by our fantastic coaches. Our Day Camp has flexible hours. Just let us know when you would like to drop your pup off (during business hours) and when you would like to pick them up. You can even drop them off in the morning and leave your pup with us for the whole day!
Our trainers are accommodating of dogs with special needs. Let us know what special needs your dog has, and we’ll make sure your pup is well taken care of.
When it’s time to pick up your pup and take them home, we’ll send them off with some extra goodies. From there, you can keep working with your dog once you get home.

Leadership Program

Leadership is a very important aspect of dog ownership. Your pup needs to know what their position is in the pack. In order for your dog to be emotionally and mentally balanced, they need to understand that you are the pack leader. If they don’t think it’s you, they will fight you for leadership constantly. Our leadership program is designed to help you become the leader of your pack—which will create more stability in your household.

Board & Train

The Stayyy Board and Train program is perfect for dogs that need a little extra attention. The program is designed to meet the needs of dogs that have more advanced behavioral issues.
It may seem on the surface like some dogs are naturally more friendly than others. This isn’t the case. All dogs have the capacity to be fun, friendly, and calm. There is no such thing as an “aggressive breed” or a “bad dog…” there are only dogs with behavioral issues that need to be addressed. During our Board and Train program, our amazing trainers will address your dog’s mood and aggression issues. They will also address problematic behaviors. Our trainers will weed out negative behaviors and habits and replace them with positive ones in a caring way.
It doesn’t matter what your dog’s age, breed, or gender is. Our trainers will work with them to remove their behavioral problems.

Obedience

Obedience training is an extremely important aspect of dog ownership. Your dog not only needs to know their basic commands, but they need to also listen every time you give a command. If your dog isn’t obedient, they may pee on the floor, destroy your food, eat off the counter, and much worse. A dog without obedience training may even run away, bite another dog, attack a person, or even bite you! If they attack another dog or a person, you may be in for a lawsuit, and your dog may need to be put down.
With all of our training, obedience is the foundation. Once the basics of obedience are addressed, we can take care of any other issues your pup may have. With that said, obedience training often resolves the issues our clients have.

Group Classes

After your dog has learned the basics, we’ll okay them for group classes. During these classes, dogs are exposed to a controlled and well-monitored environment where they are encouraged to meet other pups. As their sessions continue, the level of distraction increases, and we note their improvement. The goal is to ensure your pup becomes a well-trained and friendly dog. We offer group training both for adult dogs and puppies.
Stayyy offers group training in a variety of locations. These include our training centers, dog beaches, dog parks, and other dog-friendly venues. This allows your dog to interact with many different environments.

What to Know About Dog Boarding

If you are going to be away for a bit and/or you are going out of town, you’ll want to consider boarding with Stayyy. Our dog boarding is dog-focused, and we make sure your dog has fun and stays happy during their visit. We give them lots of opportunities to socialize, play, and run around.
It’s very important for dogs to go on nice, long walks where they can stretch their legs, go potty, and sniff around. We make sure all the dogs staying at our boarding facility spend time outdoors. We can also tailor your dog’s walks to meet their specific needs.
In order to board your pup, we’ll need current vaccination records and written proof of DHLPP and Bordetella before check-in. If your pup is over four months old, we’ll also need rabies vaccination records. This is for the protection of our staff and our other furry guests.
Some things you’ll want to consider when preparing for your pup’s vacation include:
· Bedding
· Kennel crate (if trained)
· A feeding schedule
· Blankets and toys your dog loves
· Dog food and treats
We look forward to hosting your dog in our pup hotel!

What does it mean to be a Pack Leader?

There are some common misconceptions about what a pack leader is and what they do. This is generally due to a lack of understanding of dog psychology.
Some owners don’t like the idea of a leader-follower relationship. Instead, they want to see their dogs as equals. The problem is dogs don’t see it the same way. They aren’t people—they are dogs! Dogs have a pack mentality. They will always look for a leader and will want to know where they are in the hierarchy. If you don’t show leadership skills, they won’t see you as the leader and they will take over.
To be a pack leader, you don’t have to be a bully and you don’t need to be aggressive. Instead, the role is like that of a parent to a child. You set boundaries and encourage your dog. You also provide guidance and give off calm, confident, and assertive energy. This makes it much easier to train your dog.
In order to make sure there is harmony in your household, you’ll want to establish yourself as the leader of your pack. From there, you can build a happy and healthy relationship with your adult dog or puppy. If you have an adult dog and you aren’t in the leadership role, don’t worry! It’s never too late to become pack leader.
