The Training Process

Our training program is designed to both reinforce positive behaviors and remove troublesome habits. We begin with the basic commands, and we drill them. It’s important for your dog to understand these commands to succeed. Even if your dog arrives knowing some of the basics, we still drill these commands to make sure they listen each and every time you use them.
We also focus on:
· Socialization
· Breaking bad habits
· Exercise
· Mental stimulation
We approach certain behaviors your dog should not be engaging in head-on. Some of the bad habits we address at Stayyy include:
· Jumping up on people
· Leash pulling
· Excessive barking
· Rushing in or out the door
· Stealing food from other animals
· Charging at other animals
· Eating off the counter
It’s extremely important for the safety of your dog and others for them to be properly socialized. That is why a major focus of our training revolves around proper socialization. We offer lots of opportunities for dogs to learn the importance of being a member of a pack and socializing with others.

DAY CAMP

If you would like your dog to learn the fundamentals of obedience and receive basic training, day camp is the perfect option. During immersive classes at our day camp facility, our coaches will work with your pup. You can drop off your dog at day camp and we will take care of the rest! We’ll watch them for the whole day!
Our training hours are flexible, and our day camp program is designed to be customer-friendly. You can drop off and pick up your pup whenever works for you (within our open hours). If your dog has special needs, it’s no problem! Our expert and seasoned handlers are able to work with dogs with all kinds of needs.
Once you’ve come to pick up your pup and take them home, we’ll provide you with some extra goodies that you can use to continue to work with your pup when you get home.

Leadership Program

It’s important for a dog to understand their position in a pack, and it’s just as important for their owner to become the pack leader. It’s difficult to raise a mentally balanced dog if they are wanting to fight you for leadership and independence constantly. It’s important for you to become pack leader to meet the needs of your pup. Our leadership program allows you to become the alpha in your pack. With a mixture of leadership and positive reinforcement, your dog will be better behaved and happier.

Board & Train

For dogs that need a little extra love and attention, we have our boarding and training program.
Some dogs are initially more friendly than others, but that doesn’t mean that less friendly dogs want to be mean. Aggression, moodiness, and other problem behaviors are learned and can be unlearned. More problematic behaviors, though, can take a little extra time to fix. Because of this, we suggest boarding and training services. These sessions are more intensive and allow our expert trainers to work closely with your dog to break them of negative behaviors in a caring and positive way.
Regardless of your dog’s age, gender, or breed, our pros can work with them and get rid of any unwanted behavior.

Obedience

It’s extremely important to have an obedient dog. It’s one of the most important aspects of dog ownership. It isn’t just a matter of your dog ignoring you when you give them commands. Obedience issues can lead to damage to your property, and even your dog attacking another dog or a person. They may even bite you. For the protection of those around you and for your own health and safety, obedience training is a must. Dogs are also much happier in a positive household where they get along with their owners instead of butting heads.
Our training programs start with basic obedience training as a foundation. Once your dog is obedient, we can work on addressing their specific issues. Oftentimes, obedience training takes care of the issue!

Group Classes

Once your dog is properly trained, your dog and you will have access to our group classes. Here, they’ll be exposed to an environment that is well-monitored and controlled in which they can meet and socialize with other dogs. We will gradually increase the level of distraction during the initial sessions to watch and note your dog’s improvement. To ensure your dog grows up to be a well-trained and friendly dog, it’s important to socialize them from a young age. With that said, we can work with dogs of any age.
Group classes are provided not only at our training centers, but also in various parks, beaches, and other dog-friendly venues. Allowing your dog to interact with these external environments will provide them with the opportunity to develop without confining them in an indoor space.

What to Know About Dog Boarding

If you aren’t available for a period of time or you are going out of town, you’ll want to consider dog boarding! While some people are concerned about boarding their dog, with Stayyy there is no reason to be. Our dog boarding in Lincoln Park is designed to keep your dog occupied and happy during their stay. They will have lots of opportunities to play, socialize with other dogs, and run around.
We know how important it is for your dog to stretch their legs, go potty, and sniff around. That’s why we focus on daily walks. Every dog has their own unique needs, so we tailor the walking experience of each pup to meet their particular needs.
In order to board your pup, we’ll need current vaccination records and written proof of DHLPP and Bordetella before check-in. If your pup is over four months old, we’ll also need rabies vaccination records. This is for the protection of our staff and our other furry guests.
Some things you’ll want to consider when preparing for your pup’s vacation include:
· A feeding schedule
· Bedding
· Kennel crate (if trained)
· Dog food and treats
· Blankets and toys your dog loves
We look forward to hosting your pup in our dog hotel!

What does it mean to be a Pack Leader?

You may be wondering what “pack leader” actually means…
While some people have a difficult time with the concept of creating a master-subject relationship with their pet, it’s actually not only necessary but natural. While you may not want to build this kind of relationship, your dog does. If you aren’t the master in the relationship, your dog will see you as the follower.
You should be a “pack leader” in the same way a parent is the leader of their child. It’s your responsibility to encourage your dog and provide them with the guidance they need. Through active leadership, you’ll help them to develop healthy relationships and behaviors. You’ll also be able to set boundaries and show what behaviors are and aren’t acceptable (just as you would do with a child).
In order to create real harmony in your household, you need to establish yourself as a leader. From there, you can build a happy and healthy relationship with your pup. Becoming a pack leader will take a bit of work, but it will also help to build your relationship with your dog—while also building character.
